Training Tips

A lot of people complain that they don't have time to train the dog. There are several times each day that you must spend time with your dog, like feeding, walks and grooming. Use that time as training time also. Incorporate the commands that you use into the dog's daily routine and use "life rewards" to reinforce the dog. A "life reward" is whatever the dog wants at that time: dinner, play, attention, etc. Any time you are with your dog, you are training your dog. Be sure to teach it the right things!

Housebreaking Tip

It is not sufficient to just put the puppy outside when trying to housebreak. You should take the puppy outside on leash, and be sure that the puppy eliminates before being allowed back inside. Supervise or confine is your new mantra. Never allow a puppy to have free access to all areas of the house. If you can't see it, you aren't supervising. Accidents are not the puppy's fault!

Teach your puppy to let you know when it needs to go out by ringing the Doggie Door Bell. See Gifts and Gadgets page!
